Honda has announced that the four-door saloon version of its Civic will be available to buy in the UK from August this year. The Honda Civic saloon is already on sale in certain international markets, including America.
Built in Turkey, the car will use the same 1.0-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel engines as the 5-door Civic hatchback when it arrives. The saloon is longer than the standard hatchback and offers a larger boot separated from the cabin.

Full details of prices and specifications are yet to be released, but it’s likely that the saloon will follow the same trim-level system as the current hatchback, ranging from SE through SR, EX, Sport, Sport Plus and Prestige. A sporty Type R model is unlikely, though. The saloon is likely to carry a premium over the hatchback, with prices starting at around £20,000.

The Civic saloon has few direct rivals in the UK market; the Mazda3 Fastback is its only counterpart in the class, while Audi A3 Saloon and Mercedes CLA are similarly sized options from the class above.
